Lost Temple Tavern: A Halloween Pop-Up in Downtown San Diego

By Giselle Lelux

Colorful cocktails and a red skull-shaped shot glass lined up on the bar at Lost Temple Tavern.

Halloween with a little adventure-movie energy? Lost Temple Tavern brings that to downtown San Diego. LandShark Bar & Grill at Margaritaville Hotel has turned into a haunted tropical tavern, with vines, old relics and shipwrecked skeletons taking over the space.

This was one of the seasonal spots I shared, and the abandoned-temple theme is a fun change from the usual pumpkin decor. Think a little Indiana Jones, a little Halloween and a bar where you can settle in for food and drinks.

A Halloween stop without an admission ticket

Entry is free, so you do not need to buy an attraction ticket just to enjoy the setup. Food and drinks are available to purchase separately, which lets you keep the visit as simple or as long as you like.

The themed cocktail list includes Lost Soul Punch, Black Bat, Rigor Mortis and Bloody Ghost Skull Shot. Even the names are getting into spooky season. If you are already planning an evening in the Gaslamp, this could be your first stop or the place you stay for a while.

The hotel offers an Eventbrite RSVP, but it does not reserve a table. For a group that needs seating at a particular time, contact the venue directly.

Pick your night

The 2026 pop-up runs from October 10 through October 31. The hotel lists the event hours as sundown until close, with DJs on Friday and Saturday starting at 7:30 p.m.

Halloween night also has a costumed roaming character scheduled from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. If you want music and a livelier evening, those weekend times are the ones to keep in mind.

Lost Temple Tavern is inside LandShark Bar & Grill at 435 Sixth Avenue. You can find the latest schedule on the hotel’s event page. It is a fun option when you want to get into the Halloween mood without making a whole haunted-house night of it.
