Carnival Supermarket: National City and Chula Vista Food Finds

A grocery run can turn into a dinner stop at Carnival Supermarket. If you’re in the South Bay and don’t have time to cook, these two locations are worth keeping on your radar. Here’s a look at National City and Chula Vista, with the photos grouped by location.

National City: hot food, tortillas and bakery treats

At National City, start with the prepared-food counter. This location offers hot food made daily, fresh tortillas prepared in-store and family combo meals to take home. It’s an easy option when you want a meal without doing all the prep yourself.

There’s also pan dulce, prepared meats and produce. If you’re planning to grill, you can pick up marinated meat and add salsa, tortillas and vegetables to your shopping list. The bakery case in my photos has decorated celebration cakes and strawberry-topped cakes, so there’s something sweet to browse too.

Chula Vista: produce and the tortilleria

The Chula Vista photos give you a look at the produce aisles and the tortilleria area. You’ll see tomatoes, avocados and citrus, along with packaged tostadas near the counters. It’s a useful stop whether you’re picking up ingredients or adding a few extras to dinner.

Chula Vista also advertises tortillas made in-house daily, fresh juices and an in-store food court. That gives you a few ways to combine a grocery trip with a meal. Check this location’s current food-court options before heading over, since the selection isn’t necessarily the same as National City’s.
