If the name The Quin has been showing up in your San Diego plans, here is the connection: it is the new private event and entertainment venue taking over the former FLUXX space in the Gaslamp Quarter. The address is familiar, but the concept makes room for much more than a night out. The venue’s announcement introduces a space designed for private gatherings as well as entertainment.
What is The Quin?
The Quin’s official website describes approximately 11,000 square feet on a single flexible floor. Private bookings include exclusive use of the venue, with three full-service bars positioned throughout the space. Catering is developed with the team around each event rather than presented as a regular restaurant menu.
That distinction is useful if you are deciding how to experience it. Think about a ticketed event or a celebration you are organizing, rather than assuming you can walk in for dinner any night of the week. For a birthday or company gathering, start with the kind of evening you want to host before getting attached to one particular layout.
The building behind the name
The Quin takes its name from the historic Thomas Quin Building that houses it. According to the venue overview, the original architecture remains while the event space inside is contemporary. The same page lists ceremony, dinner, theater, classroom, lounge and reception configurations.
It also details two high-resolution LED walls, including a main display measuring approximately 25 feet by 10 feet and a bar display measuring 27 feet by 6 feet. Installed sound and programmable lighting support presentations and entertainment. For anyone planning a celebration, those features are worth seeing in person rather than judging only from a venue description.

Where to find it
The address is 500 4th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101. The location page places it within walking distance of the San Diego Convention Center and Petco Park, with downtown hotels nearby. Public garages and lots operate within a few blocks. Valet is available, with arrival details arranged during event planning.
When inviting guests, include the actual arrival instructions you receive from the venue. A street address and a parking plan answer two different questions, especially for someone coming downtown for the first time.
The opening dates to know
As of October 29, 2026, the Halloween celebration on October 31 is a sneak peek, not the official grand opening. The October 27 announcement says a grand opening celebration is planned for November, with the date and details still to come.
