Focker-in-Law: My San Diego Screening Night + What to Know Before You Go

By Giselle Lelux

Disclosure: I attended an invited advance screening hosted by Universal Pictures.

Ariana, what are you doing here? 🎬 My Focker-in-Law screening night took me to AMC Fashion Valley in San Diego on November 4, and my social posts summed up my reaction pretty quickly: “10/10” on YouTube and “Not sure what they put on this sequel but it’s so good” on Facebook.

The new Meet the Parents movie brings Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro back together, with Ariana Grande joining the family drama. If you’ve seen my clips and want the details, here’s the official setup, the cast and when you can catch it in theaters.

My screening-night coverage

You can find my screening-night posts on Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Facebook Reels and Threads. I’m keeping the movie’s surprises out of this post and sticking to the story details already released by the studio.

What is Focker-in-Law about?

Greg Focker’s son Henry is grown up and preparing to marry Olivia, a former FBI hostage negotiator. Greg is suspicious of his future daughter-in-law, while Jack is already won over by her. That’s the family tension at the center of Paramount’s official synopsis.

With Greg now the worried parent, there’s a new relationship for the family to navigate. Ariana Grande plays Olivia, Skyler Gisondo plays Henry, Ben Stiller returns as Greg and Robert De Niro returns as Jack.

Who’s in the cast?

Alongside Stiller, De Niro, Grande and Gisondo, the official cast list includes Owen Wilson, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo, Beanie Feldstein and Eduardo Franco. John Hamburg directs and wrote the screenplay, from a story by Hamburg, Ilana Glazer and Austen Earl.
