My Birthday Weekend at The Portofino Hotel & Marina in Redondo Beach

Cocktails by the water, fresh flowers and a sunset cruise. My birthday weekend at The Portofino Hotel & Marina in Redondo Beach had a little bit of everything I love about a coastal getaway.

We visited during the hotel’s Say Yes Weekend, and the whole setting was so cute. With the boats in the harbor and water all around, it felt like a little escape right here in Southern California.

Cocktails, flowers and a birthday by the water

We had drinks in The Living Room Lounge and got to make our own flower bouquets. It was such a sweet way to spend part of my birthday weekend. A pretty cocktail, flowers to play with and that view outside the windows made for a fun afternoon.

The bouquet-making was part of Say Yes Weekend. If that sounds like your kind of afternoon too, ask the hotel what’s happening during your stay.

Out on the harbor at sunset

Our sunset harbor cruise was another highlight. Getting out on the water gave us a whole different view of the hotel and the harbor, and kept the birthday celebration going.

If you’re planning your own visit, you can take a look at the hotel’s Dockside Adventure Center for outings on the water. I’d leave a little room in the day for simply enjoying the setting too.

Such a dreamy place for a wedding

During my trip, the team also showed me the different wedding spaces and walked me through the wedding side of the hotel. This is one dreamy venue for a wedding. There’s something about the waterfront setting that feels a little like being in Europe to me, even though you’re right here in Redondo Beach.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding by the water, it’s a place I’d put on your list to see in person.

A little coastal escape

What I’ll remember about this birthday is having all those little moments together: cocktails in the lounge, making bouquets and being out on the harbor at sunset. The water was the backdrop to so much of our weekend.

If you’re thinking about a birthday trip, an anniversary or just a weekend away, The Portofino is one to keep in mind. And if your pup might be coming too, I’ve shared a few details about bringing your dog to The Portofino.

You’ll find The Portofino Hotel & Marina at 260 Portofino Way in Redondo Beach. Visit the hotel’s website for rooms and plans for your own stay.
