Still making Halloween plans? You don’t need a haunted-house ticket or an all-night party to get into the spooky mood. San Diego has restaurant and bar transformations where the decorations, seasonal menu and setting are the main event.

Here are five outings to consider from October 23 through Halloween 2026. Most are food-and-drink stops rather than ticketed attractions, so plan for menu purchases even when there’s no published cover charge.

Last checked October 23, 2026. Confirm the day you want to visit, the age policy and any special-event charge directly with the venue. All times below are local San Diego time.

1. Nason’s Boos and Brews

Nason’s Beer Hall at Pendry takes a witchy turn for October. This is the pick for a decorated tavern, seasonal drinks and a relaxed food stop rather than a stand-alone haunt.

  • When: Throughout October. Regular hours are Monday through Thursday 3–10 p.m., Friday 3 p.m.–midnight, Saturday 10 a.m.–midnight and Sunday 10 a.m.–10 p.m.
  • Where: 570 J Street, San Diego, CA 92101.
  • Cost and entry: Food and drinks are purchased separately. The seasonal listing does not publish a separate admission fee or an age rule.
  • Plan ahead: Use the venue reservation link for dining. Tarot, movie nights and dance-party programming are advertised, but check the specific date before making those the reason for your visit.

  • Where: 1 Market Place, 40th floor, San Diego, CA 92101.
  • Cost and entry: The seasonal event is listed for ages 21+. No separate admission price is posted; budget for purchases.

3. Lost Temple Tavern at Margaritaville

LandShark Bar & Grill becomes a jungle-expedition tavern with skeletons, tangled greenery and tropical Halloween drinks. It is a good option when you want the theme without purchasing an attraction ticket.

  • When: Through October 31, 2026. The organizer’s RSVP listing advertises Thursday through Saturday 7–11 p.m.; the hotel describes the broader hours as sundown to close. Confirm your evening directly.
  • Where: LandShark Bar & Grill, Margaritaville Hotel, 435 Sixth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101.
  • Cost and entry: Free admission. Food and drinks cost extra. A seasonal age restriction is not stated.
  • Plan ahead: An Eventbrite RSVP does not reserve a table or seat. DJs are advertised Friday and Saturday from 7:30 p.m.

4. The Cocooning of MOTHERSHIP

MOTHERSHIP gives its sci-fi setting an eerie seasonal storyline, with unsettling effects and special cocktails alongside the regular food menu. Choose this one for an immersive dinner-and-drinks plan.

  • When: October 13–November 1, 2026. Monday through Friday 4:30 p.m.–midnight; Saturday and Sunday 2:30 p.m.–midnight.
  • Where: 2310 30th Street, San Diego, CA 92104.
  • Cost and entry: Menu purchases apply. A separate experience fee and seasonal age policy are not listed; confirm before bringing anyone under 21.

5. Werewolf’s October Brunch

Prefer pancakes to a late night? Werewolf’s Basic Witch Brunch is the daytime option, with October menu specials and weekend DJs. The existing Werewolf Halloween brunch guide takes a closer look at the setting.

  • When: The official happenings page lists brunch on weekends in October, 8 a.m.–3 p.m., with DJs 10 a.m.–2 p.m. A final date for the seasonal decorations is not published.
  • Where: 627 Fourth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101.
  • Cost and entry: Plan to purchase brunch and drinks. A seasonal cover charge or age policy is not stated on the listing.
  • Plan ahead: Confirm the current décor and brunch plans directly, especially if that is the reason for your visit. Do not assume the Halloween setup continues into November.

A quick way to choose

Pick Nason’s or Lost Temple for a tavern-style stop, Top of the Hyatt for a dressed-up evening, MOTHERSHIP for an immersive meal or Werewolf for brunch. If you want DJs and dancing as the main event, use a dedicated Halloween party guide instead.

One related stop for Día de los Muertos

For a different seasonal tradition, read the Marigold Room at El Sueño guide. It is a Día de los Muertos-inspired dining space, not another Halloween haunt. Check its current hours separately.

Before you head out

Make one venue the main plan, verify the age requirement and leave time for downtown parking or a ride home. Costume policies can differ from normal dress codes, so check before bringing large props or a face-covering mask.
